Hi there! I’m Jon and I’m a wedding videographer.
Red Seats is run by myself, with occasional help from my additional camera people and my wife Rebecca.
I was about 16 when my filming adventures began. My uncle gave me his old camcorder as he’d barely used it since its purchase. Now, as with any 16 year old with an overactive imagination, I immediately set about filming my own sci-fi action movies. They were terrible. But they sowed the seeds.
Towards the end of my teenage years I thankfully developed a more healthy relationship with film and filmmaking, spending a lot of time in the cinema and studying film at the University of Manchester. Here, my lecturers re-ignited a passion in me to make films. I bought a digital camcorder and started making no-budget student films and behinds the scenes documentaries of student plays.
Then about seven years ago a wedding videographer friend of mine invited me to come out on a wedding shoot with him. In all honesty, I’d never considered this before. To be there capturing one of the most important moments of a person’s life felt like a great privilege and responsibility. Plus I got to run around getting cool shots
From that first wedding, whenever the opportunity to shoot a wedding arose, I would jump at the chance. I love weddings. Don’t get me wrong, I film other things too… but I love weddings.
I’m passionate about what I do and have gained a lot of experience over the years, channelling that into creating the most interesting and beautiful films that I can.
I also love meeting new people. Doing this job brings me into contact with some of the loveliest, funniest, most awesome people. Who wouldn’t love that
Did I mention I also love cake? To balance it out here are some other things that I like beside cake and being a wedding videographer. I love going to the cinema. I enjoy restaurants. I love swimming. I jump at the chance to travel when I get the opportunity. I actually enjoy a good session at the gym or in the pool. I like dogs. I play computer games and I drink whiskey.
Why Red seats?
Simply put, cinema seats are red. The biggest influence on my work is cinema. Cinema is all about telling stories in the most exciting or interesting way possible and that’s what I want to do with your wedding day. Show it in the most exciting and interesting way. Our shooting style and editing style is greatly influenced by what we’ve seen on the big screen and its that sort of experience that we want to give our couples. But we’re not necessarily going for big bombastic action movies, we’re telling your story and we want to tell it as truthfully and honestly as possible.
Hopefully You’ll find everything you’re looking for on this site or on our Facebook page but if you have any specific questions please feel free to ask.
